The Client brief required an introvert planning for the farmhouse, a secured home for the weekends intermingled with nature where he and his family can unwind with friends and relatives after a busy and hectic week or spend a vacation sometime of the year.
The design thus developed with walls enveloping the main farmhouse which created interior green landscaped courts with individual bedrooms, essentially addressing the requirement of ‘Living with Nature”. Inside all the rooms are stitched through a lavish internal courtyard. Light infiltrates from every corner – from roof, from wall punctures creating exciting spaces and also addressing the tropical climate by capturing natural ventilation that creates a comfortable and cool atmosphere inside the house.. The use of subtle variations used in texture and material finishes varying from ribbed concrete to exposed brick are used in harmony to create a charming ambiance. Colour and material are manipulated in varying degrees to break the monotony at different spaces of the house which is first evident at the entrance accentuated by a corton steel clad boxing which adds identity and character to the house, while offering glimpses of the spectacular paddy field beyond .
